Donate for laptops - online lessons instead of dropping out
With currently 'only' 985 deaths in connection with Covid-19, it seems as if Nigeria got through the pandemic lightly. But efforts to stop the spread of the virus have drastic effects, including for our students: the school was closed for regular classes in March 2020 and this closure is likely to continue until the end of the year.
At the moment the children and young people are informed and educated via WhatsApp. Unfortunately, this emergency solution only reaches around 20% of our students, as many families do not have mobile devices. For this reason, we want to restructure our teaching and learning concept to include online lessons. Our teaching staff is also trained in this regard.
We launched the “School dropout due to Corona, we are collecting laptops for Nigeria”. The first stage is done - the Rotary Club Regensburg-Marc Aurel made it possible for us to buy 30 laptops on-site! The price for a laptop is 45,000 Naira, the equivalent of € 105. We would like to buy an additional 120 laptops so that all school children can continue to have access to education. We would be very happy if we can realize the project. Everyone can contribute a small step towards the home stretch!
You are welcome to get to know us personally at our next regulars' table on September 15th, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kolpinghaus Regensburg.
